Our History

A Legacy Built on Rock & Precision

Laurel school of mines (LSM) is an educational institute incorporated in 2013 as a specialized professional development and training center for mining with an objective of providing latest worldwide information and training for prospective investors and entrepreneurs that want to leverage on the increasing potential of the mining industry.

Laurel School of Mines (LSM) is the first professional development and training center for mining in Nigeria. We provide step-by-step coaching and mentoring on everything mining, from fact-finding, prospecting, exploration, feasibility studies, through licensing, production and operations.

We understand the business of mining. We breathe and think mining. Our processes are internationally certified. Our training faculty is drawn from highly skilled and professionally acclaimed geologists, geophysicists, engineers, surveyors, geographers, mining economists, management and international business consultants with a combined mining experience of 47 years.

Milestones That Shaped Us

1998

Founded

Laurel School of Mines established in Nigeria with a founding class of 12 students and a mission to transform mining education on the continent.

2003

First International Cohort

Students from Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa enrol, marking the beginning of LSM's pan-African identity.

2008

Gemstone Marketplace Launched

The LSM E-Store opens, connecting certified gemstone specimens with collectors and jewellers worldwide.

2013

Research Centre Opens

Inauguration of the LSM Mineralogy Research Centre, equipped with advanced spectrometry and gemological testing equipment.

2018

20 Years & 5,000 Alumni

LSM celebrates two decades of excellence with a global alumni network spanning 50 countries across six continents.

2024

Digital Transformation

Launch of the new world-class website, advanced LMS platform, and premium global e-commerce system — bringing LSM to a new era.
